CWRS Occupational Therapists conduct Functional Capacity Evaluations (also known as Functional Capacity Assessment) in Maroochydore, the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Gladstone and Cairns. We service the Wide Bay region (Gympie, Maryborough and Bundaberg) from the Sunshine Coast.

A Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) involves a comprehensive and objective assessment of a worker’s functional abilities and limitations, to determine an injured worker’s ability to perform essential work tasks.

An FCE is an assessment of a person’s injury and capabilities in respect to their current job role and proposed suitable duties, plus identifies areas of weakness to target during work conditioning.

A Functional Capacity Evaluation may test for the following physical tolerances:

  • Safe Lifting limits
  • Pushing
  • Pulling
  • Standing
  • Sitting
  • Walking
  • Crouching
  • Kneeling
  • Upper extremity strength and dexterity
  • Strength
  • Range of motion
  • Cardiovascular fitness
  • Work simulation of specific work tasks

An FCE may identify areas that require further improvement and help to tailor an individuals rehabilitation program.

CWRS offers mobile FCE's on the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Gladstone and Cairns. Mobile FCE's are completed at the work-site. The Assessor will complete an assessment to gather base-line data, before completing a work simulation component of 'real' work duties that are required for pre-injury duties (ie on the factory floor, in the workyard, hoisting or slide sheets).
